A thing i do...
Yeah... so in addition to drawing, I have an obsession with gifting and gift related arts. I know this guy...and I've kind of icon-ized him since last christmas and made it a mission of mine to creatively gift him a lot. I've made some really cool things including a Shiva-cookie (because he's hindu), several small comics about his life and goals, a few pretend food bars, and now since he's turning 22 (which is personally, my favorite number btw) I decided to make him a massive body pillow related to the nickname i gave him back when I was just staring at him and drawing pictures of him while he worked.
Unfortunately I fell in love with the work in progress and I decided I have to keep it, so i made another half it's size and i'm continuing to work on both of them.

This is INSANE.
It is amazing.
Check out Sophie Calle's work-as reference, not insinuation...
what a project...iconizing a person
The cookies--you really have something there, well the big choco-brown bunnies too--
What an artist! Your projects are so heartfelt and visually arresting-a slam-dunk combo.
You'll be teaching a drawing marathon one day.
Google: Rikrit Tiravanija
and Sophie Calle
Read as much as you can and look at the work of both, but it's about the ideas and they'll be useful to you.
I'm thinking of everyone here--hoping all are well.
I agree with Elisabeth...It's amazing and insane...
I'm digging on the Shiva cookie...The rabbits remind me of your still life self portrait...Mmmm...rabbits...is there some hidden symbolism???
This is such a creative and thoughtful way to let you someone know you like them…!!!
Yes. There's serious symbolism. I didn't give a crap about bunnies before i met this guy He loves Rabbits and he's racist about it. He prefers black ones similar to the one he used to have with a lopsided ear. and it's got his attitude. When i'd watch him i'd characterize his movements as rabbit like because when he'd be still he'd still have that wiggle-nose twitch to some part of him. So I referred to him amongst a few friends as "My Rabbit project" and then one day i made contact and found out about his rabbit-loving history and everything he's done and said since i've stepped into his shadow has oozed content for the caricature i pegged and built on my impression and observation.
I'm stained now in that every thing in my every day life that i refer to as "good" or "fun" or "hedonistic" gets a "bunny" or "rabbit" reference...
whoops that was me. i didnt logg in.
